2021 Goals & Word for the Year: GRATITUDE

Word for the Year Gratitude

2021 Goals and Word for the Year

The word I have chosen for this year is GRATITUDE. When we maintain a heart of gratitude during times of difficulty, it helps us to keep a positive focus and our minds on Christ. Gratitude is the antidote for discontentment and discouragement.

Looking ahead to this coming year fills me with much anticipation and uncertainty. There is so much turmoil in our World right now. Dwelling on the current events will quickly lead to an overwhelming sense of fear and anxiety. Although I don’t know what the future holds, I know WHO holds the future. God is not only existent in the present and eternity past, He exists in eternity future. He is already there orchestrating all things for our good.

Being honest, I am not sure this year is going to be any better than the last one. Biblically speaking the world is only going to become more and more corrupt as the day of the Lord approaches. However, no matter what we face, God commands us to give thanks:

I Thessalonians 5:18, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Corrie Ten Boom and her sister Betsy found a hidden benefit of having fleas in their beds while living in a concentration camp during World War II. When they started applying I Thessalonians 5:18 to the circumstance, they discovered a surprising blessing of having fleas. Work on my 1000 Gifts journal

Write Thank You notes

Give gifts to those who bless my life – i.e. leaders, hostess gifts, friends, etc.

What practical ways do you incorporate GRATITUDE into your daily life?

No matter what we face in 2021, may we learn to give thanks in all circumstances. We can always be grateful that God is in control!

Wishing you God’s richest blessings in 2021!
