Overview:

Are you overwhelmed by the turmoil raging in the world around you? We are facing some of the most tempestuous times that some of us have ever known. Nancy calls us to look for the evidence of Gods handiwork when we are overwhelmed by what is going on around us. This will lead us to becoming overwhelmed with gratitude towards the Lord. Filling our hearts with joy as we focus on the many blessings God has bestowed upon us. A thankful Christian is a joyful Christian.

Favorite Quotes:

“But true, Christ-centered, grace-motivated gratitude fits everywhere, even in life’s most desperate moments and difficult situations. Even when there are no ‘answers,’ it gives hope. It transforms overwhelmed strugglers into triumphant conquerors” (p.28-29).

Gratitude is a lifestyle. A hard-fought, grace infused, biblical lifestyle” (p.29).

“So much of what is wrong in our lives-out of sync, out of sorts, out of harmony-can be traced back to this root of ingratitude. So we must guard our hearts against it at every turn, watching for the telltale signs, feelings, and attitudes that can set it off in us;” (p.53).

“When prayer teams up with gratitude, when we open our eyes wide enough to see God’s mercies even in the midst of our pain, and when we exercise faith and give Him thanks even when we can’t see those mercies, He meets us with His indescribable peace. It’s a promise” (p. 66).

“When a thankful spirit resides in our hearts and expresses itself on our lips, it’s an evidence that the Holy Spirit lives in us, that we are yielding to His control, and that He is producing His gracious fruit in and through our lives” (p.70).

Concluding Remarks:

Nancy’s writing style is insightful, yet easy to read. She puts the meat on the bottom shelf where anyone can reach it. Her books are always encouraging as well as convicting. As Nancy uplifts and motivates you to apply gratitude in your live, overflowing joy will result.
