The Battle is the Lord’s – Introduction

The Battle is the Lord’s – Part 2

Last time we looked at The Plight of the Christian and The Proven Weapon.

We must understand who we are fighting, as well as, the weapons God has provided for us with which to fight.

If you missed the first two parts of this series, be sure to check them out before reading today’s post!

The Battle is the Lord’s – Part 3

Today we will look at the remaining two weapons – The Presence of the Holy Spirit and The Power of God:

The Presence of the Holy Spirit

Many Christians are living defeated lives because they are failing to see who they are in Christ. At the point of salvation, the Holy Spirit indwells us. There is no greater force, and we have it living inside of us; yet we fail to avail ourselves of its power. The Holy Spirit enables us to live a holy and separated life for the Lord.

I Corinthians 6:19-20,

“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

At the time of David’s confrontation with Goliath, he had already been anointed king, and with this anointing came special power.

I Samuel 16:13,

“Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward.”

The Power of God

The same power that was used to defeat Satan on the cross is working in and perfecting us. Trying to fight Satan in our own strength is useless. Fighting in our own power will always lead to defeat.

When will we learn to give up and just allow God to fight for us as He fought for David?

Charles H. Spurgeon said,

“When he smote the lion and the bear, he had nothing visible to rely upon, but simply trusted his God. He had in his hand no sharp weapon of iron with which to smite the wild beast to the heart. Careless as to weapons, he thought only of his God and rushed on the foe. He was as yet a young man, his muscles were not set and strong, neither did he seem fit for such a venturous deed. But his God was almighty and reliant upon the omnipotence of God, he thought nothing of his youth, but flung himself into the fray. What more in the way of help did he need, since God was with him?[1]

God’s power is greater than anything we can imagine!

Ephesians 3:20,

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”

The same power that was used to defeat Satan on the cross is working in and perfecting us. God has supreme authority over Satan and his forces.

Colossians 2:10-15,

“And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Christ triumphed over sin and death. He desires for each of His children to be walking in victory. In order for us to be triumphant, we must be living lives yielded to His will.

We must realize that the battle has already been won and claim the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Are you living in triumphant victory over sin?

If not, maybe you need to ask yourself if you have fully surrendered your will to His. True victory comes when we yield to God.

“The greatness of a man’s power is the measure of his surrender.”

William Booth
